Lowndes High School has designated the month of February as school safety month. In an effort to ensure that our faculty, staff and students are familiar with our safety protocols, we will hold a fire drill, a tornado drill and an internal lock down drill this month. All drills will be announced in advance as practice safety drills. When we regularly practice safety drills, school personnel are more confident in making decisions to effectively and efficiently manage an emergency or major event. The safety and security of students and staff depends upon everyone knowing, to the extent possible, what to do when an actual incident occurs. Minutes or even seconds can often make a critical difference. Conducting drills creates a culture of preparedness. Drills allow administrators, staff and students to better prepare for a variety of incidents. We are committed to the safety of everyone on our campus.

  • Softball Field of the Year! From Coach Thomas: The softball team won the Field of the Year award at the Georgia Dugout Club Clinic last weekend in Atlanta. A ton of work has gone into keeping our softball facilities first class. I am very proud of this award, and the state recognition it brings to our program and school. I would like to thank a few people who without their hard work, this award would not have happened.1. John Sirmon: John stayed out sometimes until 2:00 am making sure our wall got completed. John was also a great help with the daily maintenance of making sure the field stayed in tip top shape.2. Our Awesome Maintenance Staff: Especially Fleetwood and Mikey 3 ...
