Reported by Amy Carter, teacher:

We had a nice LHS turnout at the CF Walk on Saturday, September 17th.

February 16, 2000 was a very special day. It was the day Katie Courson blessed all she knows with her arrival into this world. Shortly after her birth we learned of a disease we had only heard in passing...Cystic Fibrosis. And now, 16 years later, all who know Katie are like walking encyclopedias about CF. For the 15th year, we have celebrated Katie and so many others who suffer from CF with the Great Strides for a Cure Awareness Walk in Valdosta. Wild Adventures has been the gracious host for the past 14 years. Each year I have involved my Lowndes High students by bringing Katie into my classroom to talk about CF and encouraging each to come walk with us on her special day. Through the years my classes have raised over $50,000 for CF! And it's always special to see former students who walked while in my class return in adulthood to continue the tradition. Thank you to everyone who came to walk today and raised money to support CF in the past 15 years here in Valdosta.

As for you, Katie, YOU ARE MY INSPIRATION, you are the inspiration to everyone you meet, and I couldn't be more proud of you and the beautiful young lady you have become. You manage your condition better than anyone ever could. And hopefully, as we hear at our walk every year, our CF walk will soon be called "Cure Found!"
