For 2017 Seniors Only

Honor Cords for Move on When Ready and LHS

Seniors who have participated in the Move on When Ready program may pick up an honor cord from the post-secondary institution they attended.  These cords may be worn at the Lowndes High School Graduation Ceremony on May 20, 2017.

Seniors still needing to pick up Lowndes High School Honor Cords may do so in the main office.

Warmest Regards and Congratulations to the Class of 2017!

Take Your Google Docs With You

If you have important documents, etc. in your student Google account that you still want to have access to after you graduate, use Google Takeout to zip your files together so you can easily transfer them to your personal Google account. This is a service from Google that allows you to download a ZIP file of your docs from Google Drive so you can manually upload them to a new account. You will not have access to your student Google account information after your graduate, even if you "share" the information with your personal Google account (once your student account is archived in our school district, all of your "shared" files will disappear) .

For a quick tutorial on how to use Google Takeout to transfer your student Google account information to a personal Google account, click here.

A couple of tips to keep in mind:
1. Focus primarily on your Drive Account. While there are other services you can add to your zip file, your docs are the main thing you'll want to save.

2. Set your NEW Drive account to Convert Uploaded Documents to Docs format
When you download your ZIP File, all downloads are converted to Microsoft Office Files. You'll want to convert them back.

3. If you decide to download messages from Gmail, try using this link to learn how to put them into your new account: http://goo.gl/yK8p8t

If you have any questions, stop by the media center for help.

Senior Information and Guidelines for Graduation 2017

I. Commencement Practice and Exercise
A. Commencement practice will be Friday, May 19, 2017 from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at LHS.
You should make plans now to be present for the entire practice. Practice will begin in
the cafeteria and move to the stadium.
B. All graduates are required to attend the commencement practice and exercise. Only the
principal can excuse a graduate from these activities.
C. The graduation ceremony is a serious, although exciting, event. Students should report to
practice and commencement in an appropriate frame of mind and with a positive attitude.
D. The commencement program will be Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 8:30 A.M. in Martin Stadium.
Graduates are to report to the cafeteria at 7:00 A.M. and remain there until the march to
the stadium.

II. Senior Examinations
A. Final examinations are required of all students except those qualified for exemptions in courses
without a state-mandated end-of-course test. Grades and attendance through May 12 will be
used to determine exemption status.
B. Senior exams will be given on Friday, May 12, 2017. Seniors should make sure that all
class work is completed by Friday, May 12, 2017.

III. Dress Requirements for Commencement
A. All graduates will wear the official Lowndes High School cap and gown provided by Jostens
Company. Hanging the gown on a clothes hanger several days prior to graduation will
eliminate wrinkles. The gown should not be ironed.
B. Girls should wear black dress shoes (no tennis shoes, boots, or flip-flops), a dark, solid-colored
dress (no jeans or shorts) and very little or no jewelry. Girls will not wear the white collar that
comes with the graduation gown.
C. Boys should wear dark dress shoes (no tennis shoes, boots, or flip-flops), dark socks, navy
blue, black, or khaki dress pants (no jeans or shorts), and a white, collared shirt with dark tie.
D. Although shoes for both boys and girls should be dressy, graduates should remember that
comfortable shoes will make the march from the cafeteria to the stadium more pleasant.
E. Only school approved honor cords, stoles, or medals may be worn during. No other
accessories are allowed. VIP teachers and line marshals will check for dress code.

IV. General Information
A. All fines, fees, lost textbooks, etc., should be cleared by Friday, May 12, 2017.
B. Graduates should submit a request to the guidance office for a final transcript to be sent to the
college of their choice.
C. Diplomas will be issued by homeroom teachers in the cafeteria after the graduation ceremony.
D. The staff of Lowndes High School wants the graduation ceremony to be dignified and
memorable. Graduates should behave in an appropriate manner before, during, and after the
ceremony.
E. Handicapped seating is accessible via a ramp on the south end of the home side of the
stadium.
F. DVDs of the graduation ceremony will be available to purchase. Orders will be taken up to
and on the day of graduation and will be mailed approximately one week after graduation.
