On 19th September, 2017, Cadets Gabriel Ellwood and Gavin Marston from the Lowndes High School AFJROTC, Georgia 81st, presented the Miracle League of Valdosta with a $1,000 donation to assist them in their mission to remove the barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime.  The Miracle League of Valdosta is a non-profit organization that provides everyone with mental or physical disabilities an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league.
The cadets of the Lowndes High School AFJROTC unit conducted two fund raising campaigns during the 2016-2017 school year to provide the $1,000 donation to the Miracle League.  Cadets Ellwood, Deputy Commander, and Cadet Marston, Operations Squadron Commander, represented the entire corps of cadets at the Miracle League’s season opener and presented the check to representatives of the Miracle League.
