Purple Up For Military

Honoring Our Own Military Veteran
Posted on 04/10/2019
Four LHS military veteransGood morning LHS. Today, Lowndes County Schools are “Purpling Up” for Military Families. By wearing purple we honor all of our military members and our students that are a part of military families. We have many students at LHS that are part of military families and we honor you today for the sacrifices that you and your family make by wearing
purple.

While we honor all of our military families today, we would also like to honor one or our retiring teachers that is also retired member of the United States Air Force. On April 10, 1976, our very own Mr. John Crum began basic training as a member of the United States Air Force. Mr. Crum spent 23 ½ years of active duty in the Air Force before he retired
as a Master Sergeant in 1999. In 2006, Mr. Crum began his second career as a teacher here at Lowndes High School. This year Mr. Crum will be retiring from Lowndes High School after 13 years of service with us.

This morning, our very own Junior Air Force ROTC raised a flag to be flown in honor of the beginning Master Sergeant Crum’s military service as he began basic training on this day 43 years ago today. We will continue to honor Mr. Crum by flying this flag for 13 days honoring his 13 years of service at Lowndes High School. Thank you Mr. Crum
for your service to our country and also Lowndes High School.
