Christy Kilcrease

Mrs. Kilcrease is one of the hardest working teachers, with a genuine desire for everyone to succeed. As a lead teacher, she goes above and beyond to support and acknowledge those working alongside her. She has a unique ability to make each child feel important, respected, and loved—a true blessing to everyone she meets. Mrs. Kilcrease stands out as a kindergarten teacher because of the warmth and patience she shows every child, creating a classroom where students feel safe, loved, and excited to learn. Her energy and expertise bring lessons to life, making learning fun while building strong foundations for both academic and social growth. LPE is so lucky to have her!!


Taylor Casteen

Ms. Casteen always has a smile on her face in the hallways and classroom, radiating warmth and positivity. She is loving and supportive of all her students, consistently devoting her time to provide them with the meaningful experiences they deserve. A great addition to our LPE team, Ms. Casteen is helpful, professional, and deeply passionate about her work. Her students love her, and we are so thankful to have her at LPE!

💙 Our fifth-grade classes are teaming up with 4-H to collect soda pop tabs in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities! 🏠❤️

This wonderful organization helps provide families with a place to stay while their children receive medical care. 💛

🌟 Here at Lake Park Elementary, we love celebrating the amazing things our students do! One of our favorite traditions is Positive Behavior Referrals. 💙

Teachers nominate students who are showing outstanding behavior in the classrooms and hallways, and last week those students were honored with a special visit from our Positive Behavior Squad! 🎉👏

Ms. Casteen and Ms. Frazier’s Kindergarten Class Gets a Sweet Surprise! 🍋📚

This week, Ms. Casteen and Ms. Frazier’s Kindergarten class read the delightful book When Grandma Gives You a Lemon Tree by Jamie L.B. Deenihan. The story sparked lots of smiles and great conversations about gratitude, creativity, and turning unexpected gifts into something wonderful.

To bring the story to life, the class made real lemonade after reading — and it was a big hit! The kids had so much fun mixing the ingredients, and of course, tasting their delicious homemade lemonade. It was the perfect hands-on way to connect with the story, and the students absolutely loved it!

What a refreshing way to learn and have fun together!

In Mrs. Conaway’s class, students are learning how to write step-by-step directions, just like in expository texts. To practice, we used a fun and tasty recipe! The class followed each step in order to make ‘Pie-in-a-Cup,’ and everyone enjoyed their sweet treat!

✨ Mrs. Sheffer’s second graders are gearing up to begin reading and writing expository texts! 📚✏️

This short week, we kicked things off by exploring the “how-to” style of expository writing. Students practiced sequencing and adding important details… all while making pie in a cup! 🥧🎉
