A huge THANK YOU to Nicole West and Savannah Hall from ACE Electric Inc** for visiting Mr. White’s Carpentry class on Thursday, February 12, 2026!
They generously donated electrical supplies to support our students as they learn the fundamentals of residential wiring. In addition to the donation, they shared valuable information about ACE Electric’s Amped Internship Program and took time to answer students’ questions about career opportunities in the electrical field.
Our construction classes are excited to put these donated supplies to use and gain meaningful, hands-on experience in residential wiring. We appreciate community partners like ACE Electric who invest in the future of our students! 🔌🛠️

In January, Rena Nelson had the opportunity to present at the Georgia Association of Teachers of Family & Consumer Sciences Conference. Her session introduced fellow Interiors, Fashion, and Textiles pathway educators to the traditional art of felting—demonstrating how wool can be transformed into fabric using only warm water and dish soap. Felting is one of the oldest methods of creating fabric from fiber, and participants gained both historical context and hands-on techniques they could bring back to their own classrooms.

Through multimedia presentation and peer review, Ms. Jillian Mitchell's AP Seminar class honed their argumentative and public speaking skills by debating issues in education, from AI in the classroom to the impact of school on student mental health.

Our AP Statistics students got into the Valentine’s spirit this week by turning candy hearts into data!
The class created a distribution to visualize the variability in heart counts across their boxes full of candy hearts, then put their skills to the test by calculating percentiles and z-scores for their individual samples. They even used the final class data set to practice analyzing normality—proving that even "sweet" data follows the rules of math.

Mr. CTAE - Landon Breeden, a senior Work-Based Learning student, exemplifies the impact of CTAE through leadership, entrepreneurship, and real-world application of technical skills. He is the owner of First Line Mobile Detailing LLC and made program history by serving simultaneously as both a WBL student and employer, hiring a fellow Lowndes High student through the program. Landon’s CTAE coursework in agriculture, automotive, and drafting, combined with his involvement in FFA and FLEX, has strengthened his problem-solving, technical, and business management abilities. He represents CTAE’s mission by creating opportunities, mentoring peers, and building a future grounded in initiative and innovation.
Miss CTAE - Reese DeCesare exemplifies leadership, growth, and real-world readiness through her involvement in the architecture pathway and Work-Based Learning program. She has completed advanced drafting and architectural coursework, earned certification to draw house plans, and balances her academic pursuits with a cosmetology apprenticeship and active participation in numerous school organizations and athletics. Reese plans to pursue architecture after graduation and credits CTAE with building her confidence, technical skills, and commitment to leading by example. Her journey reflects resilience, reflection, and intentional growth as she prepares to carry classroom learning into professional success.

LHS is celebrating Black History Month.
Did you know Rosa Parks was inspired by a 15 year old who just nine months prior had refused to give up seat on a segregated bus in Montgomery? Claudette Colvin was actually one of the first persons to be arrested for refusing to give up her seat putting courage on display sparking a mass movement.

LHS Model UN traveled to Statesboro last week to compete in the 55th Annual Georgia Southern High School Model United Nations Conference. Model UN is an educational and competitive team program designed to enhance skills in diplomacy, public speaking, negotiation, and critical thinking. Students were assigned to represent countries simulating United Nations committee responses to global challenges. Delegates submitted position papers from their country's point of view and had to address various resolutions to real world scenarios. Kaashvi Tamas was awarded Honorable Mention for her position in Lithuania's Commission on the Status of Women. There were over 20 high schools and 500 delegates competing for top honors.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are aware of social media posts encouraging students to participate in walkouts or demonstrations related to recent ICE-related events. We want to clearly communicate our expectations and our continued focus on student safety and valuable instructional time.
The instructional school day is designed to provide a safe, structured learning environment. Any action that disrupts instruction or encourages students to leave class or campus without authorization is not permitted. Students are expected to remain in their assigned classes and supervised areas throughout the school day.
Unsupervised movement of students creates safety concerns and challenges our ability to maintain an orderly campus. For this reason, participation in a walkout during the school day will result in disciplinary consequences in accordance with the LCS Student Code of Conduct.
We value student voice and encourage students to express themselves in respectful and appropriate ways. We ask for your support in speaking with your student about the importance of following school expectations and making responsible decisions during the school day.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all students.
