How do you celebrate 32 years of dedication to education? You surprise Mr. Walker during his final afternoon bus duty with 32 balloons and a crowd of people who love him!

Representatives from every corner of his career—admin, teachers, coaches, custodians, bus drivers, family, and students—each presented him with a balloon and a personal note to thank him for his massive impact.

Thank you, Mr. Walker, for your decades of dedication, leadership, and love for our students right up until the final bell. You have left a legacy that will shape our school community for generations. Happy Retirement! 🎉✨

🎒 Best Surprise Ever! 🎖️
During third block, we had a very special visitor at LHS!
After a lengthy deployment overseas, Major Fry decided to give his son the surprise of a lifetime. Logan thought it was just another Thursday of algebra and essays, but his dad had other plans!

We are so incredibly grateful for the service and sacrifice of our military families. Welcome home, Major Fry! Thank you for everything you do. 🇺🇸✨

Mrs. Fletcher’s class is going wild for research! 🤖🦊

After reading The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, our students dove into the natural world to create their own animal research presentations. We focused on student choice, and the results were incredible!

From traditional handmade posters and detailed slide decks to sleek Canva designs and even creative "commercial-style" videos, these students truly brought their animals to life. We are so proud of their hard work and creativity!

✨ More than just a week... it was a whole mood! ✨
Our hearts (and stomachs) are so full after an unforgettable Teacher Appreciation Week! 🍎 From Mindful Monday yoga sessions to Squad Goal Fridays, our community truly rolled out the red carpet for us.

Whether we were pouring custom candles, dodging "spies" in the hallway, or enjoying a full spread of food trucks and "anything but a cup" festivities, every single detail made us feel incredibly special.

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing admin, student clubs, fine arts departments, and athletic teams for spoiling us rotten. We are so lucky to teach in a place that pours as much love into us as we do into our students!

🍎 Big News at Lowndes High! 🍎
We are beyond thrilled to announce that Amy Whitehead has been named the LHS Teacher of the Year! 🏆

If you’ve spent any time in the math wing, on the soccer field, or even scrolling through TikTok, you know exactly why Amy represents the heart of our school. She doesn’t just teach equations; she builds a community where every student feels seen, valued, and capable of success.

"Amy is the person who will stand beside you when things are difficult, but she is also the friend who will gently challenge you to grow."

Whether she’s leading the math department, organizing Shop with a Viking, or cheering on her students or her own kids, Amy brings an energy and passion that is truly contagious. She makes LHS a better place for students and staff alike.

🚩 Passing the Guidon: A New Chapter Begins
The Change of Command ceremony is a time-honored military tradition where the outgoing Commander "relinquishes" command and the incoming Commander "assumes" command. The presiding officer (the Commander that is superior in the chain of command) oversees the ceremony and makes it official by transferring the units guidon (flag) from one Commander to the other. We follow suit with this tradition every year by Colonel Weyand being the presiding officer overseeing the transfer of command from a Senior to a Junior. Last week, our Change of Command showcased Cadet Colonel Ethan Powell relinquishing command to Cadet Colonel Matthew Youmans.
