Our Class of 2029 Cabinet members were up early Saturday morning, making a huge impact at the Elementary School Leadership Conference hosted by Dewar Elementary! 🎒✨
These incredible students stepped up to lead breakout sessions, sharing their experiences and helping the next generation of young leaders discover their own “Lead with Purpose” potential. It was an inspiring morning of mentorship, teamwork, and team spirit.

LHS is celebrating Black History Month.
Did you know Rosa Parks was inspired by a 15 year old who just nine months prior had refused to give up seat on a segregated bus in Montgomery? Claudette Colvin was actually one of the first persons to be arrested for refusing to give up her seat putting courage on display sparking a mass movement.

LHS Model UN traveled to Statesboro last week to compete in the 55th Annual Georgia Southern High School Model United Nations Conference. Model UN is an educational and competitive team program designed to enhance skills in diplomacy, public speaking, negotiation, and critical thinking. Students were assigned to represent countries simulating United Nations committee responses to global challenges. Delegates submitted position papers from their country's point of view and had to address various resolutions to real world scenarios. Kaashvi Tamas was awarded Honorable Mention for her position in Lithuania's Commission on the Status of Women. There were over 20 high schools and 500 delegates competing for top honors.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are aware of social media posts encouraging students to participate in walkouts or demonstrations related to recent ICE-related events. We want to clearly communicate our expectations and our continued focus on student safety and valuable instructional time.
The instructional school day is designed to provide a safe, structured learning environment. Any action that disrupts instruction or encourages students to leave class or campus without authorization is not permitted. Students are expected to remain in their assigned classes and supervised areas throughout the school day.
Unsupervised movement of students creates safety concerns and challenges our ability to maintain an orderly campus. For this reason, participation in a walkout during the school day will result in disciplinary consequences in accordance with the LCS Student Code of Conduct.
We value student voice and encourage students to express themselves in respectful and appropriate ways. We ask for your support in speaking with your student about the importance of following school expectations and making responsible decisions during the school day.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all students.

LHS Freshman Mary Langdale recently competed in the 2nd round of the Georgia Music Educators' Association All-State Chorus auditions at Ware County High School. As a Soprano 1, Mary sang a total of 100 measures of music from a sampling of 5 different choral pieces, and received a PERFECT score of 100/100! In the 1st round, Mary was evaluated for her performance of a solo Italian song and 3 sight-singing (music literacy) examples and received a score of 65.5/66. INCREDIBLE!!!
GMEA ASC is scheduled for February 19-21 in Athens, Georgia where Mary will spend 3 days rehearsing music to be performed with the best singers from all across Georgia.
🎶 Congratulations, Mary, on this incredible accomplishment!

Our LHS chapter of Mu Alpha Theta had a spectacular time touring the Georgia Tech campus this past week! Dr. Cam Tyson (an LHS alumni) always ensures a thorough and engaging experience for our math club students when we visit Georgia Tech. The day consisted of a tour of the Kendeda sustainable living building (which must generate at least 105% of its annual energy needs through on‐site renewable energy), a peek into an intro Calculus lab, a demonstration in a neuroscience lab and much more. A highlight of our visit was lunch with a group of recent LHS graduates who now attend Ga Tech and provided our students some nuggets of wisdom to ensure success at the college level.
