LHS alum and soon to be VSU graduate, Shelby Hammack, gave a presentation on her career as a tattoo artist at Fringe Tattoo Studio, and how her experiences in AP Art at LHS and gaining her art degree from VSU helped shape her career path.
Shelby demonstrated using her tattoo machine on oranges, and then students were allowed to try her machine on fake skin used by tattoo artists for practice.
Thank you, Shelby for this unique experience and for giving back to your school! See more of her art on her Instagram: @prodigal.sun.tattoos.

Hahira artist Steven Walker visited Mrs. Taylor’s Painting 1 and AP Art class today for an oil painting demonstration. Students in Painting 1 are about to start acrylic landscape paintings, and the class was very thankful to Mr. Steven, for taking the time to answer our questions about life as a professional artist and his painting process. 🚀✨ Out of this world learning! ✨🚀

Mrs. Croft and Mrs. Baird’s Astronomy and Earth Systems classes took an exciting field trip to the Kennedy Space Center to explore the wonders of space up close! From walking among towering rockets in the Rocket Garden to experiencing immersive spacecraft exhibits and cockpit simulations, our students dove deep into the astronomy topics they’ve been studying in class.

They saw impressive rockets of all shapes and sizes, learned about space missions like Starliner and Boeing’s contributions, and even got a hands-on feel for astronaut gear and space travel technology.

This trip brought the classroom lessons to life, fueling a passion for space exploration and science careers. We’re proud of our students for reaching for the stars—literally! 🌟

Congratulations, Addilyn Presley!
Lowndes High School sophomore Addilyn Presley has been selected as one of just 79 students statewide — from a pool of 1,235 applicants — to serve on State School Superintendent Richard Woods’ 2025–2026 Student Advisory Council.
Throughout the year, Addilyn and her fellow council members will meet with Superintendent Woods to share feedback on how state policies affect students, discuss education issues, and participate in service projects that benefit Georgia schools and communities.
“I’m really happy and excited that I get to advocate for my fellow Lowndes High School students and friends,” Addilyn said. “I hope to better learn how our school system works and to make a difference for other students.”
The Student Advisory Council provides a direct way for Georgia students to share their perspectives with state leaders and help shape the future of education in Georgia.
Congratulations, Addilyn — we’re proud to have you representing the #OneLowndes family at the state level! #OneMission #BetterTogether
