Mrs. Taylor’s Ceramics 1 is collaborating with Mrs. Penland’s 3rd grade class at Pine Grove Elementary to create clay monsters! The younger Vikings studied descriptive writing and described themselves with lots of adjectives, which were shared with a high schooler who they were paired with, and our high schoolers are creating a monster inspired by their little Vikings! Stay tuned for the reveal in the coming weeks when our potters share their monsters with their young friends!

🎉 Pep Rally This Friday – Who Will Claim the Spirit Stick? 👑🦸‍♀️🎸

Get ready to bring the energy because our Pep Rally is happening this Friday, October 3rd! It’s time to show off your class pride, make some noise, and battle it out for the Spirit Stick.

Each grade has a unique theme, so dress up, get loud, and show who rules the school! Here’s what you need to know:

Seniors (Class of 2026) – Royalty: Kings and Queens of LHS! 👑
"Bow down… the throne belongs to the Seniors!"

Juniors (Class of 2027) – Under Construction: Ready to Take Over! 🚧
"Building a path straight to victory!"

Sophomores (Class of 2028) – Superheroes: Not All Heroes Wear Capes! 🦸 "Unmasking our super school spirit!"

Freshmen (Class of 2029) – Rock Stars: Rocking Our First Year in High School! 🎸 "Opening act now, but ready to take center stage!"

🔥 Who will rise to the top and walk away with the Spirit Stick? 🔥
It all depends on which class brings the most spirit, energy, and Viking pride!

Let’s pack the gym, get loud, and make this pep rally one to remember.
See you Friday, Vikings — and may the best class win!

🪚🔨 Students in Mr. White’s Construction class recently wrapped up a unit on hand and power tools. As part of their hands-on learning, each class built an Adirondack chair. These beautiful chairs were then presented to our Life Skills classes to enjoy in their outdoor classroom. What an awesome way to combine learning, teamwork, and giving back! 👏❤️

On Wednesday, the Lowndes High Mock Trial team, accompanied by Mr. Storey’s Law Class, attended offsite hearings for three civil cases in the Georgia State Court of Appeals. Each year, each of the five panels that make up the court (consisting of three judges per panel) choose one location outside of Atlanta to hear oral arguments from parties seeking an appeal to a decision from a lower court. This gives the rest of the state the opportunity to see the judicial system in action. The newly renovated Historic Courthouse downtown was selected as the venue to host students and community members.
Following adjournment, Presiding Judge Stephen Dillard, Judge Amanda Mercier, and Judge C. Andrew Fuller opened the floor for students to ask questions. Our Vikings were also given the opportunity to meet, and briefly chat with the judges personally.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Mrs. Haynes Studstill and Mrs. Ashley Mock of the Studstill Firm for coordinating this unique and extraordinary learning experience for our students. Two weeks ago, Mrs. Studstill came to speak to LHS law students about civil suits, personal injury, and prepped our students for today’s event. In addition to her coordination with the court and other local schools, she also provided our law class and Mock Trial members with legal briefs of the three cases being adjudicated.
Jessie’s Restaurant & Catering and the Studstill Firm provided students with a delicious meal afterwards. The LHS Mock Trial team would also like to thank Mrs. Jessica Ganas at Lowndes County’s Historic Courthouse for her hospitality and sharing the courthouse’s rich history with the group. Lowndes County is celebrating its bicentennial year. Our Vikings were also able to learn about many of the upcoming festivities planned for the rest of the year.
Finally, thank you to Mock Trial Coaches Mr. Storey, Mrs. McDonald, Dr. James, and attorney coach Mr. Wade Krueger for your continued support of student achievement and enrichment!

Celebrating Georgia Reads Day with a Trip Down Memory Lane!
Ms. Elmore’s Lit 1 students had an amazing time today visiting Westside Elementary to read to Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. McDowell’s first graders! From reading stories together to helping the younger students write in their response journals, our high schoolers got to be little kids again — and loved every minute of it!

It was a day filled with laughter, learning, and the magic of reading. We’re already looking forward to the next chance to connect with these future book lovers!

LHS Class Cabinet 2026 invites you to support Conner Wisham’s Road to Recovery from Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS).

Conner was diagnosed with GBS this summer on July 2nd; within days of diagnosis, he became completely paralyzed. Conner’s Viking Spirit and positive perspective has carried him through treatments that have given him the ability to move again and walk on his own as he pushes daily to get back to his normal, loving self.

We are asking our Viking family to assist Conner’s family in offsetting their recent, current, and future costs of Conner’s hospital stays, physical therapy, and travel expenses with the purchase of a BBQ dinner plate or to make a donation.

All profits of the BBQ dinner sales go directly to Conner Wisham.
