Mrs. Voigt's Environmental Science juniors and seniors took on the challenge of cleaning up an "oil spill" recently as part of their Aquatic Biomes unit. Students experimented with different materials to simulate real-world oil spill cleanup techniques and explored how water pollution impacts aquatic ecosystems.
From skimming oil off the surface to absorbing and containing it, students got hands-on experience with the methods scientists use to protect waterways and wildlife. A fun and eye-opening lesson in environmental stewardship for our Vikings!

Viking Family,

This week, November 17–21, LCS is observing Homeless Youth Awareness Week to shine a light on student homelessness and the power of compassion and courage.

On Wednesday, November 19, we invite all staff and students to “Go Green for Good.”
Wearing green is a simple, visible way to help raise awareness of the challenges many of our students face. Last year, more than 275 LCS students qualified for services under the McKinney-Vento Act, living in shelters, motels, cars, or doubled-up housing.

This campaign is our chance to say loud and clear: No student facing hardships walks alone.

Thank you for joining us in this important effort!

LHS Friends Fur Life is so proud of our incredible club president, Kelsi Gibbs! 🐾💉 Kelsi has a strong interest in veterinary medicine and has been spending her time shadowing and assisting at the Humane Society of Valdosta–Lowndes County clinics. She’s already gaining hands-on experience—attending surgeries like spays, neuters, and even a leg amputation, as well as helping with vaccines and microchipping. 🐶🐱✨

Kelsi’s dedication, compassion, and curiosity are inspiring, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things she’ll accomplish in her future career. 🎓
