The LHS Yearbook staff had the jolliest time creating handmade Christmas cards for teachers and staff! 🎄❄️🎅🏼

Lowndes High’s annual Shop With A Viking took place this Saturday, and it was a huge success! 🎄
110 teams of High School Vikings raised money and paired up with an Elementary Viking to shop for Christmas gifts at Walmart. Afterward, everyone headed back to the school to wrap presents, enjoy pizza and cookies, chat with Santa, play games, read books, and even enter to win one of the club-sponsored, fully decorated Christmas trees!
Such an amazing day of generosity, fun, and Viking pride! ❤️⚔️

Thanks to 7Brew for your drink drop at Lowndes High School this morning! There are a few things teachers love more than coffee, and the coffee and teas were a perfect start to this week.Thanks Mrs. Yancey for organizing this treat!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to make you aware that Lowndes High School’s fire alarm system was activated unexpectedly today. In keeping with safety procedures, all students and staff were immediately evacuated from the building.
Our students and staff responded calmly, and the evacuation was completed without incident and all students were accounted for. After receiving clearance from the fire department and our facilities director, students safely returned to class and resumed their normal schedules.
There was no fire, and at this time there is no ongoing safety concern. We are working with our facilities staff to ensure that the issue is addressed promptly.
As always, student safety remains our top priority.

📚🦌 Biology in Action!
Our biology students took learning outdoors with a hands-on game of “Oh, Deer!” to explore population dynamics. They modeled how resources and predators—like wolves—affect deer populations over time. Back in the classroom, students graphed their data to visualize how ecosystems change.

LHS Biology students took their learning outside before Thanksgiving break! 🌿 They raced through a relay game that modeled how energy is lost at each trophic level in a food chain. A fun way to bring food chains to life! 🌱🦌🦅

As we head into the Thanksgiving break, our Viking family at Lowndes High School wants to extend warm wishes to all of our students and their families. The holiday season is a time of gratitude and connection, but we also understand it can bring challenges for some in our community.

To support any families who may be looking for assistance, we’d like to highlight a resource that can make finding help a little easier. Hope Map Georgia (https://hopemapgeorgia.org/), created by the Georgia Department of Education, is a free online tool that allows Georgia residents to search for community support based on their location.

Through the interactive map, users can find nearby services such as food assistance, housing and shelter, childcare options, healthcare providers, financial support programs, and grocery access. The site is available in multiple languages and is designed to be simple to navigate for all families.

If you or someone you know could use support during the holidays, we encourage you to take a look at this resource. Our LHS counselors and administrators are also here to help connect families with information as needed.

In observance of World Kindness Day (November 13th), students in Ms. Smith’s Life Skills class took part in a meaningful community service project. Over the past month, they designed, pressed, and sold custom magnets in the Crimson Café. Thanks to the incredible support from LHS staff and students, we were proud to present L.A.M.P. with a $100 donation! ❤️🤝 #WorldKindnessDay

From lace inserts in jackets and split-leg jeans to denim bell sleeves on a kimono top, these Vikings are showing off both creativity and skill. We love seeing their designs—and their confidence—shine! ✨

Teaching financial literacy one move at a time! 💵💰 GCEE’s Creditland game was a hit with Mrs. Steel’s, Mrs. Aldridge’s & Coach Guilliams’ students! Students learn about what behaviors positively and negatively impact credit scores, and how credit scores in turn impact interest rates on everyday loans.

Lowndes Vikings wore green yesterday in support of Homeless Youth Awareness Week 💚 Thank you to our students, staff, and community for helping shine a light on the fight to end student homelessness. #VikingPride

Mrs. Voigt's Environmental Science juniors and seniors took on the challenge of cleaning up an "oil spill" recently as part of their Aquatic Biomes unit. Students experimented with different materials to simulate real-world oil spill cleanup techniques and explored how water pollution impacts aquatic ecosystems.
From skimming oil off the surface to absorbing and containing it, students got hands-on experience with the methods scientists use to protect waterways and wildlife. A fun and eye-opening lesson in environmental stewardship for our Vikings!
