Rebecca Keown - Amidst singing the role of "Miss Honey" in last weekend's production of Matilda, Rebecca competed at State Literary and placed 4th in the state in Girls' Solo. This is an outstanding accomplishment. There is a LOT of fierce talent up around the Atlanta area and Rebecca represented our work in LHS Choirs beautifully!
Tierney Walton - Also, coming off the heels of her performance as "Ms. Trunchbull" in Matilda, Tierney was accepted into the Brevard Music Center Summer Institute at Brevard University. Tierney went through an extensive application process with a submission of recorded performance material to achieve acceptance into this prestigious program. She will spend 3 weeks at the Institute in June, studying Voice.

Three LHS Engineering students, Kylee Frithsen, Wyatt Weldon, and Kamron Ford competed in the final round for the Foundational Leadership and Entrepreneurial X-Perience as 2 of the Top 3 teams from our region. This round consisted of presenting "shark-tank" style to a panel of judges their business commercial, business model, profit analysis, and live demonstrations followed by questions. These students were extremely professional and walked away taking 2nd and 3rd place, some serious prize money that they could put back into their businesses, but ultimately the tools and experience for a thriving student business opportunity! Lowndes High FBLA returned from State with several awards. Congratulations to Aarin Dave and Jack Washnock for placing 2nd in Mobile App and Caroline White placing 3rd in Future Business Educator. Both events will advance to Nationals in Orlando this summer. We are also proud to have earned the Gold Chapter of the Year award for the second consecutive year and Ms Tindall was named the Region 2 Adviser of the year. @georgiafbla @onelowndes
Mrs. Smith’s AP US Gov classes hosted their own March Madness tournament of Supreme Court cases! Students filled out their interactive digital brackets using Peardeck and battled it out to decide which Supreme Court case has had the most significant impact on protecting our civil liberties. What a competitive review of required court cases before the AP exam! @onelowndes
Congratulations to our Parliamentary Procedure team who competed at the regional competition yesterday. The results are in, and LHS FFA placed 2nd which earns them a spot in the state competition in Macon next month. Team members are Camryn Jones, Ambelina Hunt, Fisher Ruff, Alyssa Skinner, Karli Malone, and Abby Register. @onelowndes

Congratulations to artists Emme Kirkland, Mackenzie Braswell, and Drew Barnes (not pictured) on the inclusion of their artworks from the VSU High School Invitational in the 4th Annual Art of Writing Anthology! Their works were chosen from among 228 other pieces and will be included inside the book among 5 other artists. @onelowndes
Mrs. Davis's and Mrs. Robison's AP Environmental Science classes had a special treat when the mayor of Valdosta came and discussed many ways Valdosta is environmentally friendly from decreasing CO2 emissions by 12% through the use of Valdosta on Demand to cleaning up our watersheds. @onelowndes
This week Lowndes High FCCLA took the largest group to State Leadership Conference that we have ever taken! Students got to hear a keynote speaker, attend a business session, and compete in a wide range of events! We had so many high ranking individuals, and a couple of advancers to Nationals! Teaching as Profession students competed in the PAGE Future Georgia Educators State Competition at Mercer Thursday, March 13. Caroline White, Caroline Hobby, and Caden Powell placed 2nd in Knowledge Bowl, and Caroline White placed 3rd in Prepared Speech. @onelowndes

The Viking Cantors attended the annual Georgia Music Educators’ Association LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) event at Ware County High School today.
The Cantors sang a program of two a cappella songs for which they received unanimous “Superior” ratings from their judges, followed by a four-part SATB Class A Sight-Singing evaluation for which they also received “Superior” ratings!
Director of Choirs, Dr. Jennifer McQuade could not be more proud of these hard-working, performance-driven students. In addition to their musical achievements, they demonstrated superior etiquette and comportment. All three judges remarked on their air of professionalism.
